Carey was once a popular fashion model. She stands almost 5'10" tall and was well-liked by famous American designers, such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and others. Her father is an accomplished geologist, who was awarded Scientist Of The Year 1979 at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. Carey traveled all over in honor of her father's efforts. While in college when she was modeling part-time and attracted the attention from Ford model Agency representatives in New York. Her move to France in 1980 and lived for a short time in Paris and Bordeaux prior to deciding to move back in New York to continue with her college education and modeling career. Soon, she was appearing on the covers of Vogue, Glamour, etc. Between her modelling assignments she was enrolled in the study of literature in New York University. When she arrived in New York she began to pursue acting. She made her acting debut by playing a minor character in 'Club Pardise which aired in 1986 alongside Robin Williams. She enjoys in wind surfing, skiing, rock climbing and white water river rafting.
